June 5 – June 26, 2010

For the month of June, Donskoj & Company Gallery at 93 Broadway in the Rondout section of Kingston will feature the figurative, expressionistic paintings of New Paltz artist, Stacie Flint. Flint says that her work reflects her life, which is "... a colorful, direct, narrative of ordinary moments in a day, inspired by the commercial and fast paced aspects of the suburban lifestyle." In these vibrant oils, imaginary people, pets and things appear isolated, but interact within a bold composition. Even if the figures sit quietly, it is evident that they jump with energy. Flint says that "...I paint to organize disparate pieces of my life into a perspective that infuses the work with the feeling that it is good to be alive."

Stacie Flint's paintings are collected in the United States and Europe. The images have been used as magazine covers, for a children’s book illustration, on an album cover, and a stage set. Stacie Flint also paints portrait and public commissions. One of her portrait commissions is in the collection of film director Shawn Levy (Night In The Museum, Date Night), and in 2009 she completed five large canvases for Ulster County Area Transit in Kingston, NY, which features staff and passengers of the buses. In 2010, she has been selected to create a painting for inclusion in the forthcoming book, "How To Paint a Donkey", from a poem of the same name by Arab/American poet Naomi Shihab Nye. Scotswoman Louise Grieg is compiling it and has chosen the 52 artists from the US, Europe and the Middle East, requesting that they paint donkeys to serve as a metaphor for individuality and self-belief. The book will be distributed throughout the UK and on Amazon.

The opening reception is Saturday, June 5, 5-8 pm. Guitar music will be provided by The Berman Brothers, the artist's sons, from 5:30 - 6:30. To hear one of their songs, and how well it blends with the visual imagery of the artist's portfolio, view the video at youtube.com/stacieflint.

Gallery hours are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 1-6pm and by appointment. For more info: www.donskoj.com
